behind the scenes

April 28, 2010

This was an interesting photoshoot, as these are the “behind the scenes” shots. The concept was created by Morgan Brown, my friend and fellow photographer. This shoot was for her final photo class project at the University of Utah.  The photos themselves were taken with my digital camera by my friend Tiffany Rivera. And finally all the editing is my work. It’s odd to post photos of myself, but I really liked the look of these photos and thought I’d share some of them.

helsinki, finland [2009]

Helsinki is one of my most favorite cities. The people are friendly, nature-loving, and laid back. I found many unique arts, crafts, jewelry and clothing, and there’s an almost-hippie vibe that is all around. The architecture is mostly classic European but much simpler and more modern/updated than other European cities. Helsinki is so clean and overall very beautiful – with lush greenery, wide-open parks and vast open spaces by the water.

when my time comes

This is a digital collage in which I used my own photography as well as a postcard, a family letter and currency from Germany in WWI that I found inside a trunk in my grandparents’ basement.

I had a hard time deciding if I should post some of the photos i have taken with my iPhone.  There’s a fine line of whether or not this type of “photography” is really photography. Since it’s so simple and anyone can make a snapshot look good, I have to discredit it just a bit. But I suppose a photo is still a photo, whether you press a button on a camera or push a touchscreen button on the phone… and I still had to have the “creative eye” and edit the photos slightly with an app. any thoughts on this matter?
