Cottonwood Cyclery hosted a bike clinic at the USSA, so I snapped some photos for them, a few of which are now featured on their new website, www.cottonwoodcyclery.com/ . It was a fun day at work – riding bikes, talking, taking photos and… hula hooping!

Hans Gardner is new on the U.S. Freestyle Team this year and has a very promising career ahead of him. I really enjoyed photographing him and getting to know him a bit more. With his insane freestyle skiing skills and charming personality, I’m sure he’ll go far. Give him some support and “like” his page: http://www.facebook.com/HansGardner

Traveling to Copper Mountain with the U.S. Freeskiing and U.S. Snowboarding Teams was an amazing experience. (I love my job) It was my first time shooting in the pipe and let me tell you – it was thrilling. You can hear the sound of the ski edges pushing into the wall, the grunts and groans of the skiers as they pop up over the lip about 4 feet in front of your face. You have a few seconds to get that perfect shot, it’s a constant adrenaline rush and I love it. The energy of the competition is contagious and buzzing, and having established relationships and worked with with a few of  the athletes makes it even more personal when you watch them, all the while rooting for them to win. I also have a special place in my heart for freeskiing, and was honored to be there to shoot the first-ever World Cup sanctioned Freeskiing event. (It was just added as an Olympic sport, therefore this being its first official season on the road to Sochi 2014). Not to mention, I was so excited to have my photo of the first-place winner, Wing Tai Barrymore, featured on ESPN and Powder Magazine! More to come later this season :)

Holy Water Buffalo killed it at Uncle Uncanny’s music festival. They had such a great response, and are currently booking future shows and festivals due to the impression that they left. Uncle Uncanny’s was a 3 day music festival – a fun experience, although I couldn’t sleep because of the constant music blasting all night long and the acid/cocaine tripping tent neighbors talking and laughing until the morning hours! But all in all it was great – I met some wonderful people, had a great time with my best friends and danced a thousand miles! If you haven’t heard Holy Water buffalo, check them out on facebook or myspace.

helsinki, finland [2009]

Helsinki is one of my most favorite cities. The people are friendly, nature-loving, and laid back. I found many unique arts, crafts, jewelry and clothing, and there’s an almost-hippie vibe that is all around. The architecture is mostly classic European but much simpler and more modern/updated than other European cities. Helsinki is so clean and overall very beautiful – with lush greenery, wide-open parks and vast open spaces by the water.
